NBP Ships Rugby Balls from Japan to Tongan Children Free of Charge

2015.9.3

NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers Ltd. (NBP; Tokyo, Japan; president & CEO: Masamichi Morooka), a wholly owned subsidiary company of NYK Line, has shipped 248 rugby balls free of charge from Japan to children in the Kingdom of Tonga.

The balls were donated by Japan’s Kanagawa Rugby Football Union and delivered to Tonga’s Ministry of Internal Affairs on 29 July via M/V South Islander, a multipurpose vessel operated by NBP.

Tonga comprises 170 South Pacific islands, and rugby is a very popular sport among the country’s residents. Each ball was imprinted with the message “‘We Love Tonga.”

NBP is proud of its corporate social responsibility efforts and hopes that the donated balls will help the children mature into healthy adults.
