NYK Group to Exhibit at International Wind Energy Expo– Showcasing the NYK Group’s Latest Offshore Wind Services —

Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK), together with group companies NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers Ltd., Japan Marine Science Inc., and Yusen Logistics Co., Ltd. will exhibit at the 17th Int’l Wind Energy Expo to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from March 17 to March 19.

At its booth, the NYK Group will use panels, videos, and a model of a crew transfer vessel (CTV) to introduce new information about services* that meet customer needs in various areas of offshore wind operations. The NYK Group will also have an exhibit dedicated to its Akita School of Wind and Sea, a comprehensive training center offering offshore wind industry training programs, among others, in Oga City, Akita Prefecture, Japan. NYK and Nippon Marine Enterprises Ltd. opened this school in April 2024.

NYK Executive Officer Tsutomu Yokoyama will participate in a panel discussion titled “From Territorial Waters to the EEZ: Shaping Viability, Operations and Coexistence” on March 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

OverviewSince its establishment in 1885, NYK has provided safe and high-quality transportation services using its world’s largest fleet and global network, extending to sea, land, and air. In the offshore wind business, in July 2023, Rera As, a CTV for the Ishikari Bay New Port wind farm, began operations. In April 2024, NYK established the Akita School of Wind and Sea, a comprehensive training center that offers offshore wind industry training programs, among others, in Oga City, Akita Prefecture. NYK established the ship management company Japan Offshore Support Co., Ltd. at the end of 2024. At the end of 2025, NYK launched its first domestically built CTV, Alfonsino Arrow, at Kosaba Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in Kamaishi City, Iwate Prefecture. In overseas operations, NYK acquired a majority stake in Northern Offshore Group AB, a leading European CTV operator with a fleet of more than 60 vessels, in January 2025, making the company a consolidated subsidiary. NYK is also studying large work vessel businesses, including the design of cable-laying vessels commissioned by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). By taking advantage of the knowledge accumulated in the shipping and logistics businesses to date, NYK will contribute to developing offshore wind power in Japan through European and Taiwanese expertise and experience from overseas partners.

OverviewJapan Maritime Science Inc. conducts navigation environment assessments for public and private marine infrastructure projects in Japan and overseas, as well as safety evaluations and navigational safety studies related to the acceptance of new ship types and designs, utilizing ship-handling simulators and other advanced tools.
